Funeral services for Sheila Anne Wade, 83, of Dover, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior.
Mrs. Wade died Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Wade was born January 16, 1926, in Edinburgh, Scotland to the late Samuel McMeekin and Alice Thomson McMeekin.
A resident of Dover since 1967, she married her husband Frank James Wade in 1946. During their 55 years together, the couple resided in California, Florida, Maine and Libya. In 1954, Mrs. Wade became a United States citizen. For the past 30 years, she generously supported numerous wildlife and environmental charities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2001 and her, Alice Barr, in 2000.
She is survived by her son, James A. Wade of Silver Spring, Md., several nieces and nephews, relatives by marriage and many friends.
Interment will be at Sharon Hills/Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden, DE.
