Friends of the late Edith E. Vanderhoof, 92, of Dover, may call on the family beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where funeral services will be held at 1 a.m.

Mrs. Vanderhoof died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at home.

Born April 13, 1917, in Dover, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Frank Jaleen and Myrtle McConnell Jaleen.

Mrs. Vanderhoof had worked as a waitress for the Goody Shop in Dover, N.J. and for Precision Machine as a metal worker. She also worked for Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, N.J., where she loaded black powder in shells for 17 years and part time at the McGregor clothing factory for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Vanderhoof in 1997.

Mrs. Vanderhoof is survived by two sons, Charles and Eugene Vanderhoof, both of Camden; two daughters, Lorraine Allaband of Dover, Del. and Irene Adkins of Frederica; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, DE.
