Lillian Phyllis Legar, 86, died Tuesday December 29, 2009 in the Silver Lake Center Dover, Delaware where she had been a resident since 1991.
Phyllis was born on December 8, 1923 in Sudlersville, Maryland to Joseph Merritt and Emma Anna Legar.
Phyllis loved children and spent many years as a child care provider in the Sudlersville area where she lived most of her life.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Landers Legar and Isadore Merritt Legar and a sister, Maxine Moore Legar O'Neal.
Phyllis is survived by a brother, Willard Pierce Legar of Kenton, Delaware.
She will be greatly missed by her niece, E. Deloris O'Neal Reynolds, her great friends, Gladys Truitt and her children, Omer, Jay and Gwen; nine other nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and the many families and children she cared for over the years.
Services will be Saturday January 2, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware where friends may call one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be at Sharon Hills/Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the funeral home to defray burial expenses.
