Joseph Lee Hurd, 79, Bryants Corner Road, Hartly, passed away Friday October 09, 2009 at his home with family.

He was born on March 30, 1930 in Harrington, DE to the late George and Mildred Clendaniel Hurd.

Joe made many friends working for Silo Cut Stores, Diamond State Dairies and Lance Inc. He and Eunice also owned and operated Hurd's Clover Farm Store. You would find him hunting and fishing when he was able. Joe attended Templeville Community Church, he enjoyed being with the children's choir, loved being apart of the Men's bible study at his home on Tuesday nights and was an elder at church. He is preceded in death by his sister Sarah Thomas.

He is survived by his Wife of 60 years, Eunice Everett Hurd of Hartly, DE. Daughter, Deborah K. Cain of Dover, DE. Daughter, Sandra H. Thompson of Dover, DE. Daughter, Jo Ann Baker of Hartly, DE. Brother and his wife, James W. and Mary Lou Hurd of Dover, DE. Brother and his wife, Jason P. and Margie Hurd, Sr. of Franklin, NC. Sister and her husband, Georgeanna H. and Max Lawing of Vero Beach, FL. Sister and her husband, Mary H. and Don Mantz of Sun City, CA. Sister and her husband, Laura H. and Kenneth Richter of Canterbury, DE. Sister and her husband, Grace H. and Lyman Sipple of Dover, DE. Sister and her husband, Clara H. and Eugene Mercer of Mandham, NJ. Sister, Betty Jane H. Steffen of Dover, DE. Joe was proudly called Pop Pop by his 6, Grandchildren, and 10, Great grand children.

Remembrance Services will be held Wed. 10/14/2009 1 PM at Trader Funeral Home in Dover, DE Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover, DE

Friends may call Tuesday 10/13/2009 5 PM to 8 PM at the Trader Funeral Home in Dover.
