Doris Marie Fones, 80, of Camden-Wyoming, passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at her daughter's home.

She was born on April 10, 1929, in Dover, daughter of the late Arley and Minnie (Killen) Cooper.

Doris and her late husband William owned and operated the Darn Yarn Shop in Dover for over 20 years before retiring. Prior to that, she had worked at various Acme Markets in Kent County for 19 years.

She enjoyed playing jig saw puzzles, working in the family garden, ceramics, embroidering, knitting, crocheting, needle point, macrame' and sewing. She had designed and had published crochet patterns that had appeared in crochet leaflets.

Doris was a member of the Diamond State Beagle Club, Petersburg Ladies Auxiliary, Fruitland Grange, and the Whatcoat United Methodist Church, Camden, where she also sang in the choir.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William, 2005; her siblings, Jeanette Williams, Norma Jean Faulkner, Donald and Mervin Cooper.

She is survived by daughters, Karen Kennedy and her husband Jack, and Kathy Osterhout and her husband Chip, all of Wyoming; two grandchildren, Steve Kennedy of Wyoming, and Lynn Kennedy of Clinton, Ohio; two brothers, Arley Cooper and his wife Elestine of Wyoming, and Jack Cooper and his wife Bev of Milton; a sister, Rose Livingston and her husband Jack of Lugoff, S.C.; a close friend, Kathy Croft of Clinton, Ohio; her caregiver, Michele Williamson of Greensboro, Md.; and her pet companion Gabby.

Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour before services. Interment will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, DE.
