Hartly, DE
Friends of the late Juan A. Diaz Sr., 62, of Hartly, may call on the family at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where funeral services will be held at noon.
Mr. Diaz died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born Aug. 31, 1947, in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Cecilio Diaz de Jesus, of Puerto Rico, and the late Martina Gonzalez Diaz.
Mr. Diaz had worked for Hanover Foods for 33 years.
Mr. Diaz once was pastor at the Dover Bible Chapel, and was well known in the community for his penchant for helping others. He will be missed by all.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
Mr. Diaz is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Wilma Diaz of Hartly; two daughters, Angie Stevenson of Smyrna and Lorie Ridgeway of Dover; and two sons, Juan A. Diaz Jr. and Allen C. Diaz and his companion, Krystle Cooper.
He also is survived by nine brothers and a sister-in-law, Rene Diaz of Little Creek, Luis Diaz of Dover, José D. and Shirlee Diaz of Dover, Edwin Diaz of Smyrna, and Heriberto Diaz, William Diaz, Hector Diaz, Jimmy Martinez and Pablo Martinez, all of Puerto Rico; two sisters, Selenia Diaz of Milford and Maria Diaz of Dover; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, DE.
