Friends of the late Edgar B. Denham Sr., 79, of Dover, may call on the family at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.

Mr. Denham died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.

Born June 27, 1930, in Ruston, La., he was the son of the late Boyd Ben Denham and Vetrie Lee Denham.

Mr. Denham was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korea and Vietnam wars, serving as a flight engineer. He retired after 20 years at the rank of master sergeant.

Afterward, he retired he worked for Eastern Short Natural Gas, retiring as supervisor of petroleum transportation after 20 years.

He was an honorary lifetime member of 41 years at the Elks Lodge, Dover, having been voted Elk of the Year in 1992. He was bingo chairman for 25 years and was a trustee for the lodge.

He also volunteered at the Air Mobility Command Museum and the Dover Air Force Base hospital.

He enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Max.

Mr. Denham is survived by his wife of 23 years, Irene McNiff Denham of Dover; his children, Eddie Denham and his wife Lynne of Dover, Kevin Denham of Phoenix, Ariz., Barry Denham and his wife Colleen of Dover, Michael Denham of Dover, Michele McCabe and her husband Russell of Milton, Michele Martel and her husband Karl of Magnolia, Melissa Hulbert and her husband Jim of Ellicott City, Md., and Maureen DeBone and her husband Don of Westfield, Ind.; and seven grandchildren, Stephanie and Brian Martel, Josiah and Coulter McCabe, Jamison and Jonas Hulbert and Anne Marie DeBone.

Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, DE.
