Friends of the late Kenneth Darling, 67, of Wyoming, may call on the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Mr. Darling died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Oct. 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Maurice and Hazel Voshell Darling.
Mr. Darling joined the Delaware National Guard after high school and worked at his father’s family construction business until his father retired. He then started his own business, Ken Darling & Sons Sewer Contractors, and ran it for 33 years. After his health failed, he turned the business over to his son, Kevin.
He was a member of the Delaware Farm Bureau, and the On-Site Waste Water Association. He was the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control’s Volunteer of the Year for 2007 and a former member of the Dover Elks Lodge No. 1903 and past president of the Milford Go-Kart Club. He enjoyed racing dirt cars.
Mr. Darling is survived by three sons, Jay Darling of Milford, Kevin Darling of Wyoming and Alan Darling of Birmingham, Ala.; three brothers, William Darling of Dover, Roger Darling of Marydel and Charles Darling of Wyoming; four sisters, Shirley Wood of Dover, Joyce Stockslager of Wyoming, Beverly Brandt of Marydel and Maureen Corazza of Chincoteague, Va.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, DE.
