Friends of the late Angeline E. Clifford, 92, of Dover, may call on the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9.
Mrs. Clifford died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Born Aug. 22, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna G. Holmes.
Mrs. Clifford moved to Long Island at an early age, and to Delaware in 1971.
She loved the outdoors and her home on Mifflin Road in Dover.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Clifford was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Randolph Clifford, on Jan. 11, 1984.
Mrs. Clifford is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Annette and John Shackelford of Bayport, N.Y.; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy Clifford of Livingston, Mont.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Nick Neri of Holbrook, N.Y. and John III and Laura Shackelford of Rocky Point, N.Y.; and seven great grandchildren, John, Rebecca, James, Hanna, Paul, Sarah and Nicholas.
She also is survived by four brothers and a sister-in-law, John Holmes and Richard Holmes, both of Medford, N.Y., Thomas and Ruth Holmes Sayville, N.Y., and Joseph Holmes of San Diego, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Bill Dearborn of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a good friend, Jan Jacques of San Diego; and many nieces and nephews and their children who she loved for their love and kindness.
Interment will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Clifford’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720, or to a charity of choice.
